This site has been created as an impulse by the recommendation of our
fans and colleagues in Slovakia and abroad. Its aim is to inform about
the past and present as well as future activities of the 1st (tiger) SQN
equipped with one of the best airplanes MiG-29 FULCRUM.
Although the history of the 1st (tiger) SQN could be investigated to the year 1988 when the first selection of pilots to fly FULCRUM was made
at the Zatec AFB in Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia); the
modern history has started after the independent Slovak Republic creation in January 1993. Since that date the MiG's-29 and the pilots of the 1st SQN
have provided the air defense of the Slovak Republic and help to
the aircraft in emergencies.
The aim of this site is to provide a space for the Slovak Air Force
popularization and to show activities and the life of the fighter pilots from
the other-civilian view.
There will also be notices about the air shows and other activities
of the 1st (tiger) SQN regularly published on this site.
The interesting part of the site will be certainly the photogallery with the collection of pictures taken by some famous photographs working for aviation magazines worldwide. Unique will be the opportunity to obtain some original souvenirs of the 1st (tiger) SQN.
